The Super Prom Story

Note: Parts of this story may be slightly exaggerated.

Once upon a time, in a place far from here, but maybe not so far from where some of you are, there was a group of friends. These friends all were in high school together, a blue ribbon school at that, and they led peaceful lives. But then, during the spring of their junior year, senior year for some of them, something happened that would change all of their lives forever. You see, it was Prom season. And one of the friends, by far the most beautiful girl that ever lived, wanted to go to Senior Prom. But alack, she was only a junior. She begged and begged and begged her older, senior, male friends to take her, but they just found her pathetic. You see, not everyone agrees with me that she is the most beautiful girl who ever lived. Had I been a senior, none of this would have ever happened. But I wasn't, so this is what did happen.

One of the seniors, in order to taunt and further demean the pathetic, but beautiful, girl, jokingly said to her, "Would you like to go to Super Prom with me?" The girl saw that the senior was just trying to make fun of her patheticness, by asking her to a fictitious Prom that would never happen. She ran away crying, realizing that he was saying that he never wanted to go to a real dance with her. And the story almost ended there, with her crying in the bathroom trying to slit her wrists while the rest of us were laughing at her outside. But, as I was rolling on the ground laughing, a thought occured to me. We should have a Super Prom! It would be cool. Our own personal prom just for us, none of the other losers that went to our school. It would be great.

I suggested the idea to the others and it took off. Everyone immediately saw its potential. The girl even stopped crying and came out of the bathroom. Imagine, we would have our own prom, that we plan ourselves. No more of the horrible proms planned by class officers. No more nights in uncomfortable clothes dancing to music you don't like in a room full of people you don't like. We would pick the music, who was there, when it was, and we could wear whatever we want. It was the best idea I had ever had.

We got to work planning it right away. Who would come, who would go with who, what day it would be. Finally, the day came, and Super Prom was born. It was an amazing success, everyone had an awesome time. There was swimming, dancing, barbecuing, and lots of mountain dew. Basically, it rocked.

The next crucial step in Super Prom history came shortly after the first Super Prom was over. I realized that with more planning it could be even better. It occured to me that Super Prom had to be held every year. So I immediately started planning the next one.

Today Super Prom means so much more then that first Super Prom did. That was little more than a small pool party in my backyard. Now Super Prom is one of the biggest days of the year, if not the biggest. People plan their whole summers around it. It the one day when we all come together, from wherever we've been. No matter what happens, I know that I'll see everyone at Super Prom.
